Canyon Lake Fly Fishing Report 11-22-09

Water temp: 67 F, Weather: Clear 70 F, Winds: S 5 mph,

Headed out to Canyon Lake this afternoon with my buddy Jon Fisher. After nailing the stripers last week, we decided to give it a shot again. We were throwing sinking lines and Chrome Clousers on the deep flats near Comal Island mid-afternoon when Jon hooked into something solid. Really solid. We both were hoping it was a striper and not an ambitious blue cat. Turns out it was a striper. After a 10 minute battle he brought it to the boat. We didn’t have a tape in the boat or a scale heavy enough to weigh it. Length was easily in the mid-30’s. What a fish! Snapped some photos and released her.
